This painting is one of many I created about the saga of The Sutton Hoo Ship Burial discovered by archeologists in late 1940 on the East Coast of Britain. Many artifacts were recovered and a perfect imprint of a viking ship was left in the soil under a mound of earth. It was likely the grave of a Viking warrior or king as the treasures for the afterlife were rich and many.
